A quality repair job will be almost indistinguishable from the original rug's artwork. Before beginning a repair job, several important steps are planned. For example,

• The color of yarns chosen should match the original color palette used,

• The missing design and shapes must be the same size, scale and intricacy of the original art,

• The knot type used must match the original weaver's handiwork,

• Then sheared to the original pile height.​
